Father's Day activities

For Father's Day, we made Dad egg burritoes for breakfast.  For gifts, we gave him some flavored woodchips to use on the grill, plus some siracha chili sauce, and a jar of kalamata olives.  We had ribs for dinner, salad, bread and ice cream sundaes for dessert.  We tried really hard to be nice to him, and I didn't go to any meetings that night.
On Father's Day we allowed Dad to use the remote without any interference from us.  As a result, we were kind of bored.  So the girls came up with this fun activity.  (Lauren is drawing on Emma's feet.)

They spent hours doing this.

This is an example of Lauren's handiwork.  I think it's a flower.

Maybe it's a smiley face, I don't know.

Quilt

These are quilt squares that Jane gave me about 6+ years ago.  I guess I haven't gotten around to making this quilt.  I hope Jane doesn't read this and realize what a slacker I am.  Anyway, I've donated the squares to Emma so she can have the pleasure of finishing it (with lots of help...maybe after girls camp and Martin's Cove).  I kind of hate sewing these days, but this might be a nice quilt for the boy.

More LeFevre Food

We made Cafe Rio pork Sunday afternoon for dinner!  It was so good!  I swear it tastes just as good as the real thing.  We used Sara's pork recipe out of our cookbook, then the salad dressing recipe I got from my friend Bonnie (again, in the cook book, salad section), plus we added corn/black bean salad on top which is also a recipe in the salad section of our cookbook.  It was quite the feast.

We love taking pictures of our food.

Although this may not look as good as it tasted, it was a great cake.  Emma watched Cooks Country or America's Test Kitchen (basically the same show) and wanted to make the caramel cake they made on the show.  We should have cooked the frosting a little longer, because it was a touch gritty, but other than that, the cake was yummy.  Emma's been doing a lot of helping in the kitchen since school got out.  She's a fantastic cook.

Utah Trip (part 3)

Monday afternoon we went to Lauri's house, way out on the west side of the valley.  She lives in Herriman.  They had a beautiful home, an awesome theater room, 4 cute kids, and a whole lot of stuff to give the LeFevres!  We came home with a fancy baby swing, beautiful crib, exersaucer, stroller/car seat travel system, complete crib bedding set, a box of diapers (!!), 3 super-capacity wash loads of baby boy clothing (including several sets of brand new clothes), baby shoes, hats, and other baby accessories.  In addition to all of that they also gave us a new Cabela's shooting/hunting Wii game and a new full-size bed-in-a-bag with an additional co-ordinating comforter.  After loading the truck, Lee (Lauri's husband) showed up with Cafe Rio lunch for all of us, and Lauri got out no less than 8-10 different types of ice cream for an ice cream sundae/banana split party.  We were overwhelmed with their generosity and kindness.  I felt ridiculous offering them some orange marmalade and homemade chili sauce, but it was all we could give them.  I told my girls that they better make some good friends in college, because the love comes around just when you need it the most!
Here's our stop at the last 7-11 on the way north from UT.  We always like to stop and get a slurpee.  This is what the truck looked like on the drive home.

Again, a view of all the stuff we hauled back from Utah.  Good thing we had that yard sale to make room!

Lucky Emma benefited from the bedding set Lauri gave us.  She loves it!

This is the bed from IKEA.  We assembled the bed from 8:30 to 10:30 Monday night.  We were sooo tired!  These drawers give Lauren more space than her dresser did, so it was a great move.  The bed only cost $169!

This is the beautiful crib!  Landon just has to do some repair work on the drawer that fits under the crib, then it will be perfect.  Lauri even had a brand-new crib mattress shipped to us so that our baby wouldn't die of SIDS on a mattress that was too soft.  She's an amazing friend.

Utah Trip (part 2)

Sunday morning we went to IKEA for a hearty breakfast of meatballs, potatoes, gravy, lingonberry sauce, and salad.  This picture shows Landon talking on the phone to Kristen, learning that she just found their baby bunny dead in his cage.  We ended up buy Lauren a new bed with big drawers underneath so we can eliminate the dresser in her room.  Since we spent over $100 we received credit for our meal, so it was free.  SWEET!

We spent Sunday afternoon/early evening with the Luke family!  We went to the Little Acorn Drive In for dinner.  Yummy!

The little ones.

The big ones.

The whole silly crew.

This is Lauren and her mom.  Monday morning we went to Cabela's for Dad's benefit.  The girls and I spent our time sitting in the cafeteria waiting for Dad to get his fill.

Emma killing time at Cabela's.

Trip to Utah (part 1)

With the proceeds from our yard sale on the 19th, we were able to take a 3 day trip to Utah to visit Kristen, Manase, Oliviana, Mom, Shannon, Jane and kids, and Lauri and her family.  Lauri and I met our freshman year at BYU and have been friends ever since.  Unfortunately we lost touch for about 7 years, but got back in touch just in time for me to get all of her baby stuff!  (More on that later...)  We hadn't been to Utah in over a year, which is crazy!  We happened to cross paths with my mom because she flew in to help Shannon move back to Washington.  I didn't do very well with picture-taking, but I do have a few.
This is sweet Oliviana with the baby bunny that her dad rescued from a construction site.  They had the bunny at least 2 weeks and it doubled in size, but it was just too young to be away from his mommy.  He died the day after this picture was taken!  SAD!!

Everyone got a chance to hold the bunny (even me).

Recent Injuries

Besides a nice shot of my chest, this is showing the sunburn I got on May 19th, the day of our yard sale.  I was also burned on both arms and the back of my neck.  The good news is, we sold lots of stuff and made about $500 to finance most of our trip to Utah!  Worth the pain.

Emma was injured several times on our Utah trip.  This particular injury came from Landon opening the door to Cabela's so hard that it slammed into Emma's foot.  On Emma's other foot is a deep planter's wart with a thick callus over the top of it.  She went to the doctor's to get it frozen off 2 days ago.

This is what happened when Emma lost a fight with her swimming goggles.  She also managed to hit her head on the bottom of the pool at one point while doing some tricks.

Porky Pig Feet

Look at those feet!  This is what my feet looked like when we were driving home from our Memorial Day weekend trip to Utah.  I tried to elevate them to rest on the dashboard, but Landon started gagging and insisted I put them out of sight.  Whenever I look at this picture, I laugh really hard.  So gross!!!

This is what my feet look like today, Friday, after the swelling SLOWLY went down throughout this week.  Even so, I just had to buy some MENS size 12 flip flops to get me through the summer.  I normally wear a size 12 womens, which is about a size 10 in mens.  So depressing!

Hamburgers for Dinner

A couple Sundays ago we wanted hamburgers for dinner, but didn't have any buns.  I made homemade buns!  Landon made potato wedges and grilled the beef.  Looks pretty good, doesn't it?

Our Special Daughter

This is how I found Lauren a few weeks ago.  She was sitting on top of a bean bag, with a helmet and her robe on, watching TV.  Good thing we've known her long enough to know that she's not developmentally delayed.
