Levi

I want to update the blog about Levi.  He grows and changes so much every single day.  I need to document where he is right now.
He is almost 14 months old.
He is obsessed with eating utensils.  He must have one in his hand when he eats or when he sees anyone else eating.
He is obsessed with bananas.  When he sees them in the store in the produce section or in someone else's cart, he freaks out.  He eats them, but actually loves holding them and squishing them between his hands more than eating them.
He is obsessed with ducks and socks.  He says "a duck a duck a duck a duck" over and over whenever he sees a duck.  It's surprising how many of his books have a duck somewhere on one of the pages.  He feels the same way about socks.  He says "a sock a sock a sock a sock" over and over when it's time to put on socks.
Of course, he's obsessed with books.   I think that's well-documented.  We probably spend the majority of his waking hours reading books.  If I start reciting one, he'll run to the book shelf and find that book and bring it to me.  He particularly likes books with animal sounds or dinosaurs.
He holds anything up to his ear and says "O" for "hello" and pretends to talk on the phone.  It can be a remote, a toy car, a ball, a rubberband, a piece of food, it doesn't matter.
He loves to be outside and throws his body down the playground slide head first.  He is friendly to other kids.
He loves new experiences and meeting new people.  He has a strong attachment to mommy, but that is a good thing!  It allows him to feel confident and secure.  That is why he isn't hesitant to explore and meet new people.  He will have no problem going into nursery in March.
He still wakes up several times a night.  If we have a good night, he'll only wake up twice.  He still nurses.  He only nurses when he wants to go to sleep, so it's about twice during the day and then several times at night, depending on the night.  He'll probably continue to nurse as long as I'm OK with it.  I think we'll re-evaluate at 18 months, but for now, it's a good thing for him.  I think he's had amazing benefits because of it, including never being sick enough to go to the doctor.
He loves his blanket that Grammy made for him.  I'll say, "where's your blanky?" and he'll go look for it and bring it to me.  He usually likes to have it to run his hand over while he's nursing.
He understands an incredible amount.  I'll say, "lets go upstairs and do the laundry." He starts heading up the stairs before I even move.  I'll say, " we need to clean out your nose." He'll head into the kitchen and reach up for where we keep the booger sucker thing.  I'll say, "lets go get something to eat." He'll head into the kitchen and try to open the pantry or fridge.
He says "Emma" over and over, but he means either Emma, Lauren or sometimes Dad.  As soon as he wakes up in the morning, he says Emma, Emma, Emma because he wants to see his sisters.  He LOVES them to pieces and they feel the same about him.  Lauren is rough with him and chases him and makes him laugh hysterically, while Emma reads to him, holds him, and loves on him.
He hates being in his carseat and riding in the car.  I hope he grows out of that one day!
He has a fickle appetite.  He doesn't eat a lot, but has enjoyed whole milk now that he's one.  His favorite food is probably chicken and other meats.  He also likes pasta.

When we went to Red Robin for Landon's birthday, Levi kept pointing at this thing and saying, Duck.

Enjoying a bite of his first corndog at Sonic.

Always willing to share his food.

He loves musical kid DVDs.  He likes to sit on his slide and watch and sometimes dances around.  He brings me a DVD and the remote when he wants to watch something.

He loves the girls' Ipods.  He likes to take selfies.

A great selfie.

Being silly with Lauren, of course.

Talking on his remote control "phone."

Playing with Emma, who will kill me when she sees this picture.  Not a good representation of what she usually looks like.  :)

Eating some chicken and sharing, of course.

Halloween and Landon's 40th Birthday!

I'm so far behind on this blog that I'm just starting with Halloween and moving forward.  Levi is a demanding little boy!  He hates to see me sitting at the computer, so I can't do anything for more than 3 minutes at a time when he is awake.  When he's napping, I have more urgent responsibilities-like making dinner or unloading the dishwasher or doing laundry or going pee-than updating the blog.  Lauren loves looking back on posts from years ago and laughing or reminiscing, so I'm determined to keep it up as long as possible.  It's been a great family journal.  Anyway!  Here are the few pictures I have from Halloween...

Levi was a HORSE for Halloween!  He was adorable and I kept him in his costume all day so he'd be warm when I was out and about running errands.  We spent time at Landon's school, visiting, then we came back for the school carnival (the day before Halloween, actually).  Landon had volunteered to be in charge of the food, so we all went to support him and help him as much as possible.  He was pretty stressed out, but it was a fun event anyway.

Lauren was a "sock monster," Oliviana was an Egyptian princess or some kind of Monster High character that I've never heard of.  Either way, they looked cute.  Kristen had surgery the day before this carnival, so we were happy to have Oliviana with us.

This was at Trunk or Treat on Halloween night.  Lauren is too old for trick or treating now, but she was happy to take Oliviana around and get candy anyway.  Levi went for a little while, but then decided to stay with us at the car giving out candy to kids.  Emma helped give out candy at the Trunk or Treat and then later at home.  She was upset that day because she had tests at school, and homework that night!  She had a rude awakening to the reality of not being a little kid anymore.

Landon turned 40 on November 1st.  He received a Red Robin giftcard from the teachers at school, so we all went out that night and used it.  The kids, teachers, and staff at his school put up a big tree outside his office door.  Everyone in the school filled out little paper apples and stuck them all over the place outside his door, expressing birthday well wishes.  Several classes stopped by the office and sang Happy Birthday.  He was very adored on his birthday at school.
