Boring Summer Days

So far, summer has been pretty boring! The weather has been really windy, rainy and unpredictable. When it's not too windy, Lauren has been spending time outside with the neighborhood kids. Every once in a while Emma will also go outside. Last night the girls were playing "truth or dare" with some other girls. Lauren dared Emma to skip. The other kids were like, "why would you dare her to skip?" and Lauren said, "You'll see, just wait." Emma then attempted to skip, which you'd have to see to believe. This is the kid who we had to "teach" how to squat in order to roast marshmallows. Funny stuff. Other than that, we've been enjoying a free month of Netflix, going to the library, reading, and staring off into space. These are some of the library prizes the girls have earned by reading. Lauren earned the whole summer's worth of prizes for her age group during the first week, so she just recently signed up for the teen program. I made a cake last weekend that turned out so well, we felt the need to photograph it. Lauren made a new couch out of the old couch. See her bowling pin water bottle? We bought that at Fat Cats last weekend. When you take it back, you get refills for only $1. We went bowling, played mini-golf and ate pizza. We had gift certificates and a great coupon, which makes an ideal combination!
We were given an Amish friendship bread starter, so Emma took over and followed through with the whole process. She then made little loaves out of the starter and gave 3 of her friends their own starters. I thought she made the cutest little tags.
The past 4 years I've been buying a hanging flower basket for Mother's Day at a little nursery out in Newdale. The weather has been so bad, and we've been so poor that we waited until today to buy my basket. It was a good idea to wait, because the baskets were 30% off! This huge basket only cost $22! I hope it lasts through the summer!

If Emma has any more friendship starter, bring it when you visit next month. I'd love to have some!

Pretty flowers! Friendship bread is fun. The tags are cute, did she print on the computer or by hand??
