Emma's 14th Birthday

We started out with eggs and toast...a rare treat lately.  I'm usually too busy with Levi to cook for the girls before school.

Emma's BFF, Jada, dropped by with this poster before school.  So cute.

Looking beautiful with her scarf tied with a knot she saw on pinterest.  Eyes mildly puffy from waking up all night because she was so excited about her birthday.
Dad was driving before school so we waited until after school to open gifts.  This is a shirt I nervously bought for her without her input.  (Emma is famously particular about her clothes.)  It's from Anthropologie and on clearance at our Downeast store.  Fancy fancy.  She loved it and I was relieved.

New Ipod cover.

Movie about Anne Frank that she wanted.  Silicon oven mitts.  (Emma is famously freaked out about burning herself when using the oven...to the point of considering an anti-anxiety drug when she bakes.)

Electric face scrubber.

She's a Miamaid now!  Woo hoo.  Her new leader had this posted in front of the house when she came home from school.  She also received a bag of Hershey's hugs and kisses hanging from her bedroom door.

Homemade mint chocolate brownies (Jane's recipe in our cookbook...sooo good!) for her birthday treat.  We went out to Costa Vida for dinner and we're having a big homemade meal of ribs, salad, garlic mashed potatoes, and rolls for Sunday dinner.  (I just couldn't pull that meal off during the week without help.)
Emma also got lots of cards, money and love from extended family.  We went clothes shopping yesterday so she could spend her cash.  She found some awesome jeans at American Eagle, and some cute shirts and skirts at Walmart.  Maybe I can convince her to do a fashion show later and post some pictures.
Emma's favorite gift was a facebook account!  I couldn't believe we finally allowed her to have one, but we found out that they allow some missionaries to have facebook for proselyting.  Why should we be more strict than the missionary department?  She's such a good girl.  We love her.  I'm not sure how we got so lucky, but we're happy she picked us as parents.
