Veteran's Day Program

The 4th graders at Lauren's school did a Veteran's Day program to honor the veterans. Lauren was sooo excited about this! I couldn't figure out why she was so excited, but she just was. She made me go buy her an "airforce" costume at DI. This was the best I could do, and luckily she was very happy with it. She and Dad looked exactly the same.

Lauren is on the left side, second row from the top in the first picture, the top in the second picture, and second from the top in the third picture (holding a blue paper with stars).

In that second picture, the kids are doing sign language to the Star-Spangled Banner. As LDS people, why do we feel the need to make kids sing in sign language during any program, church-related or not? Are there that many deaf people in the audience?

Lauren, you nailed it!
For your information, American Sign Language is the 3rd most used language in the country. (I learned that from Matt Lauer)

How true is that? We have lost all ability to be creative and think outside the box. I think the LDS community should incorporate more interpretive dance in it's programs.
